dine for democracy was initiated to bring people together to support free and fair elections through the joyful act of sharing food. the campaign began in 2018 in the lead up to the midterms out of concerns about historic voter disenfranchisement and voter suppression in the united states that has disproportionately affected people of color and led to unequal representation in government.
organized by a small group of artists, activists in the san francisco bay area — including our dear friend lena wolff (@lenawolffstudio) — dine for democracy is driven by the belief that the right to vote is a fundamental component of a functioning democracy.
this year, dine for democracy raises funds for 5 voting organizations led by youth and communities of color working on the ground to educate voters and increase voter turnout in upcoming elections across the country.
to help raise funds for the effort, we are hosting a raffle with the winning ticket holder receiving a bundle of beautiful dining goods — the versatile cotton nazar spread, brass-tipped salad servers, and an erica tanov for notary ceramics serving bowl — a retail value of $328.
to participate, please purchase any amount of $10 tickets here. multiple entries encouraged — it increases your chance of winning! the winner will be selected randomly and announced on friday, august 7th.
you can learn more about the other restaurants, wineries, and private chefs participating in dine for democracy and donate directly to the dine for democracy voting fund on their website.
